Nursing my kitty

In the midst of finishing up the last chapter of Fallon’s Jewel, my poor cat Squeaky Jeter developed a thrombose in her femoral artery and lost the use of her back legs. We’re hoping she recovers but in the meantime, it’s a matter of keeping her comfortable, making sure she gets her medicine and lots of petting and encouragement and some massages of her back legs. My fingers are crossed. She’s otherwise healthy and hasn’t lost her appetite, which is a good thing.

New cover hotness!

I got this cover a few days ago for Touching Forever (previously released at Loose Id). Isn’t it just incredible?

Here’s a blurb for the story:
Lily Tan is a Tigress, a practitioner of the erotic arts, an immortaless who gives men pleasure in return for their life force, but gives her heart to no man. When she wins a mysterious and handsome Tibetan wanderer in an underground poker game, Lily’s control over her heart and body begin to slip. Tenzin Gayatsu’s willingness to submit to Lily and his potent maleness prove a combination that may tame even the wildest Tigress.

Lily teaches Tenzin her erotic arts and begins to find pleasure with him she never knew could exist. Tenzin is a gentle lover and a willing student whose compassionate gaze and skilled hands ease away the wall she’s built around her heart. However, just as she’s beginning to trust him, a tragic event reveals that Tenzin is a vampire, a member of the race that once enslaved and tortured her. Lily wants to push him away but can’t. Another vampire is out to kill everyone Lily loves and Tenzin is the only one who can help her. Lily is forced to trust him with what is most precious to her, and can only pray that he is the compassionate, loving friend he claims to be…

Yes, this is Fallon (John Enos)

I stumbled across this photo on one of my favorite sites. I’ve not even heard of John Enos. Who is he? But when I saw him, I thought, this is Fallon. I gave you my vision of Kenji in the previous post and now I have them both pegged. lol If you don’t know what on Earth I’m talking about, it’s my current m/m, Fallon’s Jewel which is in progress and is almost finished.

Speaking of M/M, I just finished watching the first episode, season 3 of Madmen. For those of you who watch, you know there was quite some passionate guy-kissing between Salvator and the porter. When that fire alaarm went off, my first response was darn! lol

Getting there

In spite of my slower writing pace these days, I’m closing in on the finish of writing Fallon’s Jewel. Who knows? It might take another month, but sometimes, I notice, when it takes longer, there’s a bigger process at work. Sometimes, I need more time to get to know my characters better, and grow to love them. A book is always a much better read when the author is in love with his/her characters.
I need to fins a physical inspiration for Fallon. So far, though I have one for Kenji. (i.e. Daniel Henney). The other thing that can slow down the writing process is the fact that this story has strong mystery/suspense elements. This always adds complexity and I need to be much more careful in the writer so that everything is tight and holds together well.

Aside from that, I’m still doing my research on Tokugawa Japan. THAT is going to take a while because learning about this historical period really requires the equivalent of studying as if I were going for a college dregree. No joke. There is sooo much to learn. But I enjoy it.

This and that…

This coming Saturday, August 16th, I’m honored to say I was invited by erotic romance author Janice Irving to blog at Shared Wisdom, a Livejournal blog where your favorite writers talk about various aspects of the writing craft. Janice asked me to speak about what she feels is a spiritual quality in my work, epsecially in the White Tigers series. It’s a privelege that she wanted me to speak on that blog and I will be ther eon Saturday to answer any questions readers have on what I will have written on the blog. I hope you’ll come by and visit!

Just finished reading an incredible book. If you haven’t picked up Laura Joh Rowland’s Ichiro Sano murder mystery series, you’re missing something wonderful. I just finished Shinju, the first of the series that introduces the samurai, Ichiro Sano. The setting is Tokugawa Japan and Sano is a samurai policeman who, new at his post, is expected by his superior to write off a double lovers’ suicide (shinju) as just that. However, Sano suspects murder and goes against his superior’s direct orders to conduct an investigation. Sano’s disobedience pits him not only against the rigid samurai code of obedience and filial piety expected of him, but also against his own conscience. As his investigation deepens, he risks everything, his status, his life, his family, his honor, in order to continue. Sano’s thirst for truth even when his investigation causes innocent lives to be lost and his quest his burdened by the need to honor these fallen innocent lives as well.

Well, I must say, I haven’t quite enjoyed a book this much in a long time. Rowland is a master at bringing this period completely to vivid life. Sano is a wonderful characters as are the others and one of the things I like most is that even the most dastardly murderers have understandable motives and are complex characters for whom the reader can almost feel sympathy. This kind of ability in an author is something I myself, aspire to. I couldn’t put the book down until I read the very last word and I’m eagerly waiting the next part in the series, Bundori to come in the mail. If you love murder mysteries, then don’t miss this one! Only one warning: there are some wickedly violent scenes in vivid description. Not recommended for the faint of heart.

And finally, in my own writing world, I’m just about finished writing Fallon’s Jewel. Just a few more scenes, a couple of them m/m yumminess.

Who’d ever have thought?

Who’d ever have thought that The Bite Before Christmas would be in the library circulation of Harvard University!

Yep, I stumbled across that information while searching the database of World Cat, a site that catalogues all books in print and tells you what libraries they’re available in. Well, you can imagine my surprise that one of my m/m erotic romances would be on the shelves of America’s oldest and most presitigous universities! Kewl!

Thank you, John Hughes

A very necessary mention. This film came out when I was fourteen. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen it once it came onto cable back then. Enough to have memorized most of the dialogues by heart. I still know them.

This one was my favorite but at the time, I was also partial to Sixteen Candles. Who isn’t happy for the wallflower girl who gets the guy of her dreams? Watching the film back then, it was a way of vicariously living through her.

Here comes the judge

I’ve been invited to judge entries in the Golden Rose contest of the Rose City Romance Writers (a Romance Writers of America chapter in the northeast.) It’s an honor to be asked to judge a contest. I haven’t received the entries yet, only gave them my preference of categories. Should be interesting!

Excerpt

“Leda, there’s something I need to tell you.” Duncan lifted the brush from her hair and sat down next to her on the bed. She looked at him, his dark brows drawn together, the concern darkening his eyes. Her stomach fluttered.

“What is it, Duncan?”

He sighed and gently ran the palm of his hand down her arm. His touch was warm through her cotton nightgown. “I don’t want you to feel bound to me,” he began softly. “I mean, after the year of our handfast.”

She furrowed her brow as the meaning of his words sank in. “I don’t feel bound to you in the way I believe you mean it.” Reaching up, she touched his cheek. “Does this have to do with what happened today?”

“Aye.” He raked a hand through his hair. “Ian and Helen’s marriage has never been consummated. It could be dissolved. You and he would be free toâ?¦” he paused, the word he was about to say stuck inside him. “Marry.”

Leda gasped. “Duncan, don’t you love me anymore?”

His gaze snapped to hers, his eyes wide. “What? I couldn’t love you more. That’s why I want you to be with Ian if it’s what you want.”

She looked down at the hairbrush dangling from Duncan’s large hand, a hand that had caressed her, pleasured her and comforted her countless times. The mere thought of giving him up made her hysterical inside. And yet, when she thought of Ian, remembered the way he’d looked at her earlier, with desire and tenderness, as in the days of their engagement, she couldn’t imagine living without his, either. As strange and as confusing as her heart was, she loved both men. They were both part of her soul. “It’s not that simple, Duncan.” She put a hand over his, squeezing it. “I don’t want to end our marriage. Ever.”

He looked at her. His gaze caressed her and his relief was palpable.

“But I know you and Ian still love each other. I never expected you to stop.”

Leda opened her mouth to speak, but Duncan gently put a finger to her lips.

“Leda, I want you to have us both.”

She stared at him, waiting for him to lift his finger. When he did she gasped. “Duncan, do you realize what you’re saying?”

He nodded. “Aye. Don’t think I haven’t given this a great deal of thought.” He set the hairbrush on the bedside table and reached for her hands. “If it were any other man, I doubt I’d feel so strongly. But I know what you mean to each other and, well, Ian has more than proven himself worthy of you.”

Her lips trembled and hot tears crowded her eyes. “Does Ian know how you feel?”

“No. I haven’t spoken with him yet.” He reached up a hand and pushed her hair back, away from her face. “I said back on our honeymoon that I believed what I wanted most deeply in my heart was to give love unreservedly to the people I love.” He brushed a tender kiss across her lips. “This is my gift to you, Leda, to give you what you want most deeply in yours.” He fell silent and wiped a tear off her cheek with the pad of his thumb.

A knock sounded at the bedroom door, which opened at Duncan’s call. Ian stepped inside and approached them. He wore a bathrobe over pajamas and his hair was damp and combed back. He looked at them hesitantly. “Is it all right I’m here?”

“Come and sit with us,” Duncan told him.

Ian went over to the bed and sank down next to Leda. He sat with his shoulders hunched. “I can’t say enough how sorry I am,” he said after several moments.

Leda noticed Ian’s hands shaking and put her hand on his shoulder. He looked up at her, his green-gold eyes lined with grief.

“Leda, I’m so frightened,” he whispered.

She realized instantly what he meant, and her terror over his leaving for war washed over her. “Ian.” She threw her arms around him, burying her face into his neck. His strong back heaved under her palms, making her aware he was sobbing. She held him as tightly as she could. God, it felt so sweet to hold him after so long. She’d missed him horribly, even during her time with Duncan. And not because she loved Duncan any less. Her heart was meant to hold both of them. And, she thought, as warmth tingled inside her, igniting in her sex, her body.

Ian’s sobs abated and his breathing changed, growing more ragged. He stirred against her and she felt the change in his body. He lifted his face and looked at her, one large hand smoothing or and that only the thing material of their nightclothes separated them. “Leda,” he whispered. His eyes smoldered under heavy lids as he gazed. “Leda, I can’t bear the thought of never seeing you again. I’ve missed you so much.”

He looked suddenly at Duncan and pulled away from Leda. “I’m sorry, Duncan.”

Duncan reached out and squeezed his brother’s arm. “Don’t be sorry, Ian.” His voice was low and husky. “Love her.” His hands went to Leda’s shoulders, rubbing them in slow, sensuous circles. The heat of his hands radiated through the thin material of her nightgown and she breathed heavily as the tingling in her body increased, trailing deliciously through her entire body. “She wants us both,” he whispered, burying his lips in the side of her neck, feathering the tip of his tongue along the delicate skin. His strong hands slid down the length of her arms and onto her hips, rubbing and caressing them.

Leda opened her eyes. Ian was staring at her hungrily, yet hanging back, as if he thought he were dreaming. She reached a hand out to him, gently tugging him to her.

When he was only a few inches away, he exhaled sharply and leaned into her, taking her mouth in a deep kiss. She felt him releasing pent-up longing in the way he mated his tongue fervently with hers. His hands cupped her breasts, squeezing them tenderly yet urgently.

Duncan grabbed up fistfuls of her nightgown, raising it above her knees. Ian lifted his face from their kiss so that The gown could be raised over Leda’s head, exposing her bare flesh. She watched Ian’s gaze travel the length of her body.

“She’s yours too,” Duncan whispered, leaning over to press a kiss into her shoulder.

Ian leaned into her again, kissing her deeply. She breathed in his masculine scent that she’d missed for so long. Reaching up, she laced her fingertips into his hair as he nibbled her lips and jaw, trailing kisses down her neck to her breasts.

Duncan caressed her hips. One large hand slid over her stomach, his fingertips raking through the curls on her mound. Her hand followed the movements of Ian’s head as he went from one nipple to the other, suckling each one hungrily to a hard peak. Tingling heat coursed through her body as he tugged each sensitive nipple between his lips and tongue. She wilted against Duncan, melting under their exploring hands and tongues.

Duncan’s fingertips slipped down between her legs, into her moist center, rubbing back and forth over her clitoris. She spread her legs wider, sagging back further against Duncan. When Ian sat up to pull of his pajama top, Duncan’s hands slid back up to her breasts, cupping them from behind, kneading her nipples gently between her fingertips.

Ian’s hazel eyes were dusky, his face flushed, his muscular chest heaving. One hand reached out, his fingertips tracing a path from her inner thigh to her knee and back up again while Duncan turned her face to the side and kissed her, slipping his tongue between her lips, tasting her mouth languorously in slow strokes.

She moaned, her eyes fluttering closed. She felt Ian move closer and then felt his lips press into her stomach, the tip of his tongue flickering over her skin. His palms caressed her inner thighs before skating upward to her sex, spreading her open gently with his thumbs. His breath was suddenly warm over her clitoris, which he began to lave with his tongue.

Leda surrendered completely to the overwhelming pleasure. She spread her legs wider as Ian slipped two fingers inside her swollen channel, musky and wet from arousal. The combined ecstasy of Duncan’s kisses, his fingertips squeezing her nipples, and Ian’s tongue on her desire brought her body over the edge. An orgasm erupted under Ian’s mouth, shimmering through her womb. She cried out from the intensity of the waves that gripped her. When they passed, she wilted again Duncan who laid her back against the pillows.

“Leda, may I?” Ian whispered, his eyes smoldering. Her musk glistened on his lips.

She nodded and he pulled off his pajama bottoms. His erection was full and thick and she gazed on his magnificent body, her desire stirring again.

He parted her legs and settled himself between them, guiding his penis to her opening. Leda moaned as he pushed the head in, the glided up inside her until their bodies touched. He took her mouth hungrily in a kiss as he moved inside her, bracing himself on his elbows.

Duncan had pulled off his pajama top and stretched out beside them, his hand fondling her breasts, squeezing the nipples. When Ian lifted his lips from hers, she turned to look at Duncan who smiled at her and leaned over, kissing her full open mouth, suckling her tongue feverishly.

LADY OF TWO LAIRDS is a very sensual and erotic tail of a love that is filled with twists and turns, anger, sadness, and above all, passion. Leda is a fascinating character because she cares so very deeply for both Ian and Duncan. Her struggle to reconcile her love for these men is the pivotal plot in the story. Ian and Duncan are wonderful heroes, each with individual characteristics and qualities of their own that make them stand out in the story, and make their love for Leda all that more special. I really enjoyed watching these three finally fall in love, learning that sometimes love isn’t always what we expect, but it can be better because of its unexpected traits. Sedonia Guillone has written an emotional, strong, and very erotic story of a love that is anything but typical, but is very, very special. You’ll want to get your hands on a copy of this story quickly.

LADY OF TWO LAIRDS is one of those stories that will tear at your heartstrings from the beginning. There is so much sadness and unfulfilled love throughout the book. However, there are also periods of great joy and hope. This is one of those books that will have you wanting the main characters to find a way to become one entity. The story draws you in and holds your attention until the very end. Duncan and Ian are the rugged Scottish highlanders that so many of us love. They have that powerful alpha male mentality that draws our mating instincts. There are a number of wonderfully poignant love scenes throughout the book. Most will leave you breathless and longing for relief. This is a very good book that deserves to be put on your keeper shelf.

LADY OF TWO LAIRDS by Sedonia Guillone is warm sweet romance, between three people who love each other and don’t want to be apart. Ian and Duncan each love Leda in their own way and Leda loves them both equally. Wonderfully written, and spicy love scenes make this a must read for readers of erotic romance.

LADY OF TWO LAIRDS is an epic of a story. It follows Leda through most of her formidable years and tells of two brothers who are so opposite yet harbor deep similarities and a love that can surmount the cruelest of events. [...] A great weekend read for anyone looking for a deeply emotional and passionate story to wile away the long winter nights.

This is Sedonia Guillone at her best! LADY OF TWO LAIRDS is such a touching story. The love flows between these three who learn the true meaning of love through sacrifice, forgiveness, and sharing. I haven’t read a historical in awhile and this one makes me remember why I love them so very much. Two such hunky highlanders and one very sexy and loving woman, what more could she ask for?

Five Kisses for Barely Covered – yay!

Kaz is a Boston Police Detective. He is in a gay stripper bar waiting for his date. When the dates calls and breaks up with him he is about to leave. That is when he sees Damien, a stripper and the stuff of Kaz’s dreams. Kaz cannot take his eyes off his breath taking beauty. Later, when he sees the same man being harassed in the back alley of the club, he rescues him. He takes Damien back to his home and stays, not wanting him to be alone after such a trauma. Damien has never had the basic human kindness that Kaz offers. People have always wanted something from him. To have Kaz helping him for no reason makes Damien fall hard and fast for the gorgeous detective. The more they both get to know each other the more in love they become. When Damien’s torrid past comes back to haunt him can Kaz save Damien and the future they both crave?

Sedonia Guillone brings back her lovers Damien and Kaz in the prequel Barely Covered. I loved these two and was really happy to read how they met. I already know from reading Barely Undercover that they have been together for 15 years but to see how it all started out is really beautiful. Kaz is a tough Boston detective who is so kind and giving he has a innocence to him that is refreshing for Damien. Damien has seen the seedier side of life. He is not used to the basic human kindnesses that come so naturally to a protector like Kaz. I loved how just being nice to Damien brought out the sunshine inside him.

If you are a fan of these two lovers this is a must read. If you have not met them before this is a great introduction into the sexy steamy world they both live in.
