Yesterday I finally finished revising Men of Tokyo: Sudden Heat and turned it into my editor at Total-E-Bound. The book comes in at a whopping 83,500 words or the equivalent of roughly a 330-page novel. Whew! No wonder I’m so worn out.

Overall I’m happy with the story although each book leaves me hungry in the sense that I want to delve ever more deeply into the lives of the characters. If I had my way, I’d begin so much earlier in their lives and write the narratives of their experiences leading up to the romances that eventually change their lives for the better. This impulse has been there for a while but has been deepening, probably as a result of reading this author Howard Fast. He is so remarkable a storyteller that as a writer, I can’t help but be influenced by the depth and beauty of his work.

I imagine I will attempt this with Kiku’s story. His story is compelling to me and is just straining to come out.
